Westgate Alternative Elementary School is helping students build healthy habits and stronger connections through monthly 5K walks that bring together students, staff, and families. The walks provide regular physical activity while preparing students for the school’s annual Walk-a-Thon in May, with additional opportunities to stay active through a lunchtime mileage club. By combining movement, encouragement, and schoolwide participation, Westgate is supporting students’ physical and emotional well-being while teaching healthy habits they can carry with them beyond the classroom.
